Check - app concept

Check is a mobility app that enables users to book electric scooters or cars for their journeys. Currently, users open the app in active cities, view available vehicles, and book a ride. The concept we explored aimed to expand functionality, allowing users to plan trips in advance rather than solely relying on ad hoc bookings. Additionally, we aimed to enhance the user experience by integrating navigation within the app, eliminating the need to switch between multiple apps while using Check.

The challenge

The existing Check app posed challenges for users who want to plan trips in advance use navigation during their ride. Users had to rely on separate apps for navigation, leading to a disjointed experience and increased cognitive load while taking part in traffic. Ad hoc bookings limited users' ability to plan efficiently, especially for longer journeys or complex routes.

Role and approach

Our team focused on creating a concept design that envisioned these enhancements. The primary goal was to improve user experience and streamline journey planning for Check app users. My work primarily involved UX research, conducting user testing, and iterating on the concept based on feedback and insights gathered.

Our approach involved several key phases:

  1. Concept Design: Based on research insights, we developed a concept design that integrated trip planning and navigation features seamlessly within the Check app.

  2. User Testing: We conducted user testing to validate the concept design and gather feedback on usability, functionality, and overall user experience.

  3. Iterative Improvements: Insights from user testing guided iterative improvements, ensuring that the final implementation aligns with user needs and expectations.

Impact

The concept we developed has recently been implemented in 2024, marking a significant evolution in the Check app's functionality. The destination-based UX approach not only allows users to plan trips in advance but also integrates navigation within the app, providing a seamless experience and eliminating the need for users to switch between multiple apps for transportation and navigation needs.

The project's success lies in its user-centric approach, leveraging UX research and iterative design to create a more intuitive and efficient Check app for users.
